Celebrating in Kansas
We went antique hunting yesterday and finished up at the "Hoof and Horn" for dinner. It is an old time saloon with the huge bar like out of "Gunsmoke". For those of you who don't know about "Gunsmoke", it was a tv western that I watched all the time back in the day. Anyway, I must change the way and amount I am eating when I get home. I feel like I have gained a thousand pounds this week. Patsy looks great, so she is my inspiration for losing the weight. My doctor and friend, Carol will be glad I am doing this. We leave tomorrow, headed back to Dallas, then home. Patsy has also inspired me to clean out and throw away, or at least have a garage sale--might as well make money on all that old "junque". I've got to simplify my life.
Today is Mama's birthday--88th--and I am baking her a cake. Of course, she won't eat any of it--that's for Patsy, Kirk and me to eat. She opened her presents this morning and was very excited to get a new alarm clock(which she doesn't have to wind), a set of bird placemats and pictures of us at the beach with a picture holder. I think that we have brought the rain with us, much to Patsy's delight. Howard, Kirk's personal weather forecaster, called this morning and told him that the sun was shining and was suppose to stay for about three days. Kirk has sat still for about as long as he can, so right now he is down at Patsy's climbing tree pruning off dead limbs and sucker limbs. He is happy-- he is using a chain saw!!!!!!! We are going to shop at my favorite store--Nell Hill's in Atchinson tomorrow or Wednesday. Kirk will be off to the Stetson place, if he can find it. There are rumors that it has closed down. Well, I'm off down the hill to check on Kirk and Patsy and their cutting and hauling. More Later!!!!!
The jungle is getting more dense with every raindrop. The banana leaves are now above the patio roof and leaning out over the little walkway. I love, love, love it!!!!! The little palm tree that I planted last year is a slow growing one, but it has grown a foot and a half with all the rainfall. I can't get over the cool weather, either. We are off to Kansas on Friday, to visit with Patsy and Mama. We will spend Friday night with Larry and Cheri and drop Bubba off with them for his vacation.
Camaryn and Dandy wave jumping at South Padre this past weekend. What a wonderful vacation we all had!!!! I think that it may become an annual trip for our family. We all had such a good time. It sure felt good to frolic in the waves with my granddaughter. She sure keeps me jumping(pun intended!!). We all sunned, swam, and ate until we were miserable and had to take two aspirins and go to bed.
Our world is humming with the sound of lawnmowers and weedeaters. Everyone is trying to get their lawn mowed before the next showers. It is almost like running between raindrops. I have packed the beach towels and suntan lotions for our trip later in the week. I am looking forward to that trip so much. Walking on the beach, and sunning in the sand sound so heavenly. I even bought a new bathing suit for the occassion. It was not as painful as it has been in the past. The new one has straps because in my old age(when I don't need them) I have developed big boobs. You know, getting old and dealing with body changes just sucks sometimes. I know, I know, I should be thankful that I am getting older and not dead. I am!!! After this beach trip we will be home a few days and then off to Kansas to see Mama and Patsy. I am really looking forward to that trip, too. The beach trip will be very interesting--all of us piled into one house. A family vacation--depending upon how this trip goes, it might become a family tradition. Gotta go and pack some board games and summer reading. More later
Well, I think that San Antonio has just shifted from south/southwest to tropical rainforest zone. Holy Cow!!! It just keeps raining and raining. Our yard is growing as we stand and watch. If you stay still too long, a vine will wrap around your ankle. Gwen, Rob, you should bring your photo clients over for outdoor shots. I can't ever remember everything being this lush and green in all the years I have lived in South Texas. I will take some more pictures and see if I can post them. Later ya'll.
