Icy temperatures, cedar pollen, rainy weather--OH MY

We have endured icy weather(the two days off from school were primo). I don't even mind making up the days we missed from school. I lazed around and glued recipes into a sketch book so they would not get lost. I knitted a blanket for Landon. It was great fun. Kirk took pictures of us out in the ice with the dogs for Aunt Bobbie's birthday bash. We went to Garden Ridge to get decorations for Tracy's bridal brunch in Feb. I loved it--hanging out with Kirk. Some people don't like the winter with the harsh cold weather, but I do. It gives me a chance to contemplate things and plan for spring and summer. I love to wrap up and stay on the couch and watch old movies, read a book, or redesign my flower beds. I know that sounds trivial, but it is truly a time to settle and rest. I can remember my grandmother using that time to put a new quilt together or plan a new one and cut out the pieces. It was during that time when she taught me to crochet. Her crocheted pieces were so beautiful and mine were such a wadded up knot, but she told me it was beautiful and helped me fix it. She was so patient with me and was always willing to show me how to quilt or crochet or sew doll clothes. I hope that I learned patience as well. I want to be that kind of grandmother to Camaryn and Landon.

Back to school

Well, tomorrow it's back to work. I have an all day workshop tomorrow. Booo!!!! We had a great visit with Gwen, Rob, Camaryn, Jessica, and Emilie today with several good games of " Chicken Foot. Tomorrow, Jess and Em leave for a ski vacation to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They should have lots of fresh powder. I finished knitting( just in time) a scarf for Jessica that would coordinate with her red winter jacket. She loved it. I got an e-mail(long expected) from a friend who is setting up a counceling business. I have been invited to consider doing this. I am seriously considering this idea, rather than teaching. I can retire at the end of this year, and I am seriously considering that idea as well. As for now, I am off to the races tomorrow.
